The Almost Christian Discovered
Mead, Matthew
In typical Puritan fashion, Mead shows the many ways that a person can be deceived into thinking he is a Christian when, in fact, he is merely an "almost Christian." Short and readable, this classic will help you to examine yourself to see if you are, indeed, in the faith. Mead's purpose is two-fold: to shake nominal believer who may be very “religious" out of their complacency, and to give true believers the comfort of their security. This book has been completely retypeset and updated for easier reading.  Second Edition:

Biblical Theology
Owen, John
Owen wrote 24 volumes, and only 23 have been available in reprint. Biblical Theology, has been in Latin, and this is the first-ever English edition of this important work. It was translated into English by Dr. Stephen Westcott. It contains six sections, tracing theologyfrom Adam to the present. Appendixed is Owen's Defense of Scripture against Fanaticism, which hasmuch to say in the current discussions with Charismatics. J.I. Packer says, "All the qualities weexpect of Owen--the focus on God, the passion for Christ, the honoring of the Holy Spirit, the shattering depth of insight into human sinfulness and perversity, the concern for holiness, the radicalview of regeneration, the vision of the church as a spiritual fellowship that worships, the distrust ofphilosophical schemes and styles for dealing with divine things, the celebration of God's wisdom ingiving the Scriptures in the form in which we have them--all are seen here."  H/B, 911 pages

A Beam of Divine Glory
Pearse, Edward
Pearse, the pastor of St. Margaret’s, Westminster (adjacent to Westminster Abbey) wrote this extremely scarce treatment on the immutability of God—the doctrine that God never changes. Pearse shows that this doctrine is of the greatest comfort to saints, and should be of the greatest terror to sinners. Completely retypeset and edited from a 17th century edition, this book also contains “The Soul’s Rest in God.”  H/B, 190 pages

Solitude Improved by Divine Meditation
Ranew, Nathanael
This is a scarce book by a little-known Puritan, but was widely-read and loved in his day. The premise of the book is that one need never waste time when alone, for that time could be spent in meditating upon God. Ranew covers what meditation is, that it is a duty for every Christian, how we can go about that duty, and how meditation is a spiritual pleasure. This is a reprint of the 1839 edition by the Religious Tract Society.  H/B, 341 pages

A Guide to Christ
Stoddard, Solomon
This is a manual written "to help young ministers guide seeking souls through the work of conversion." It is largely a treatise on what the Puritans called "preparation" or "seeking," in answer to the question, what should a person do who desires salvation, but does not find it in his heart to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved? Solomon Stoddard(1643-1729) was an important figure in New England theological history. He was not only thegrandfather of Jonathan Edwards, but he was also the commencement speaker at Harvard College forover 40 years. He was often referred to as the "Pope of Western Massachusetts" because of hisinfluence. In his introduction to the book, Dr. John Gerstner calls this book "a classic," and says, "This Guide leads us to the finest in Reformed theology. The only trouble with this book is that it is too good. We are not worthy of its author." The book also contains a preface by Increase Mather, and two additional sermons by Stoddard. A Guide to Christ was last printed in 1816 in Northampton, but has now been completely retypeset and updated for easier reading.  H/B, 120 pages

The Safety of Appearing on the Day of Judgment in the Righteousness
of Christ
Stoddard, Solomon
There is no more important question than that of how a man is made right with God. Is it through the merits of Christ or the merits of men? Stoddard, the grandfather of Jonathan Edwards, shows that the only safe place to be found at the end of one's life is in the righteousness of Christ, in His merits alone. This is a scarce and extremely valuable work by this important New England Puritan.
